Virgin Galactic is seeking talented and motivated Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Maintenance Planner to be a part of our GSE team to support our mission. As a GSE Maintenance Planner, you will be assisting the team in planning, scheduling, and reporting maintenances for our ground support equipment fleet. You are a key player in our mission to create the world’s first space line and opening space for all through continued maintenance planning development.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the timely and quality execution of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on company owned/leased GSE, and vehicle fleet.
- Plans, schedules and coordinates a broad spectrum of GSE vehicles and equipment.
- Schedules periodic, planned and un-planned maintenance work within maintenance tracking software (Limbel, 3DX).
- Produces diagnostic procedures to determine needed repairs.
- Keeps and records maintenance records as required within our maintenance tracking software.
- Plans and coordinates a broad spectrum of GSE permanent/temporary repairs and/or modifications.
- Organizes daily inspection of equipment to always ensure serviceability and operational readiness.
- Defines, reviews & updates the scope and tasks of maintenance work packages.
- Sources, schedules and plans off-site and 3rd party maintenance vendors.
- Outlines, tracks and updates labor requirements/availability for maintenance work packages.
- Always maintain a clean and well-organized work area, free of dirt, clutter, and debris. Both gear and workspace are to maintain a “show room” standard.
- Works collaboratively to achieve goals and/or complete assigned tasks.
- Adheres to set directions and guidelines from team leader to support collaboration across teams to complete project.
You may be asked to perform other related duties and projects as business needs require at direction of management.
Required Skills and Experience
- High school diploma and /or combination of education and work experience is required.
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant maintenance planning experience with ability to meet deadlines and maintain a safe and efficient workplace.
- Must have and be able to maintain a valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record that will pass the criteria set by our insurance carrier for on-the-job coverage.
- Sound ability to interpret, write, and follow printed or electronic maintenance requirements.
- Have a strong systems mechanical background and show ability to learn and become proficient on new and/or customized equipment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Displays sound judgment, with the ability to make accurate and timely decisions.
- Ability to adapt to paperless environment, using tablets to receive and record maintenance tasks via MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) software.
- Ability to understand and adhere to Virgin Galactic (VG) policies and procedures.
- Proactive, strategic and detail-oriented approaches with a strong commitment to safety, quality, efficiency and effectiveness.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite MS Project and Maintenance Tracking Software (Limble, 3DX).
- Familiar with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Seeks out diverse perspectives and helps in a team setting.
- Strong safety forward thinking, practice good housekeeping, tool control, recognizing the importance of properly handling hazardous materials and chemicals.
- Support the company strategy by holding ourselves and one another accountable for getting the work done.
Physical Requirements
- Travel 25% or more of the time.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position – 8 hours minimum.
- Able to maneuver in tight spaces through positioning self by stooping, bending, crawling – 3 hours minimum.
- Physically able to handle items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds (unassisted).

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $69,550.00–$100,925.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
