Virgin Galactic (VG) www.VirginGalactic.com is seeking a Spaceline Maintenance Controller with experience in a commercial or flight test setting. This role will provide technical and logistical support to the Tech Ops Department and overall Spaceline operations. This is a full-time position at Virgin Galactic’s base of operations at Spaceport America / Las Cruces, NM.

 

Responsibilities

 

This position is responsible for ensuring successful execution of all asset maintenance requirements and schedules. This position coordinates with vehicle maintenance, supply chain, engineering, GSE, facilities and flight operations to properly support efficient flight operations and scheduled / unscheduled maintenance. The Maintenance Controller is expected to apply professional technical expertise and guidance to help resolve complex problems.

  • Manage day-to-day scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of spaceflight system assets via the Spaceline MRO software to ensure operations stay on schedule
  • Coordinate daily activity tasking with maintenance crew leads including task identification, assignment, and progress/completion status reporting against a master schedule
  • Define, review, and update the scope and task relationship of work packages
  • Review and audit work packages for completion and accuracy
  • Provide flight crew and operations management with technical briefings and data as required
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Planning, Asset Managers, Management, and Flight Ops to determine maintenance requirements and support flight schedule requirements
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Planning on scheduling and accomplishing vehicle modifications
  • Maintain proper maintenance tracking to avoid over-flying approved deferrals and scheduled maintenance requirements
  • Provide precise and timely information and reports across multiple platform assets to any member of the operations team as required
  • Create, Revise, Review and Execute the Maintenance Programs within the Spaceline MRO software
  • Assist in creation, revision and review of multiple chapters of the GMM

What you bring 

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate across multiple departments.
  • Must have 3 years line maintenance experience
  • Must have knowledge of computers and software: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and/or maintenance tracking software
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and work any shift, including nights and weekends
  • Must be able to obtain an AOA badge
  • To comply with ITAR Regulations, only US Persons (US Citizens or Permanent Residents) may apply

 

Preferred Skills and Experience 

  • Associate's and/or Bachelor's related degree is preferred. However, consideration will be given for equivalent operational leadership experience
  • FAA A&P Certification highly desired
  • Previously held maintenance control or lead mechanic position being highly preferred.
  • Project management experience related to maintenance or technical operations.
  • Willing to travel and be on-call

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $69,550.00–$100,925.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
