Title:  Vice President, Maintenance

Reporting to the President, the Vice President is responsible for proving strategic leadership for the overall Maintenance and Operations department to enable the company’s organizational growth. This includes, but is not limited to, developing plans for labor and budget spend, growing and developing talent in the department, and identifying new areas of technology or operational efficiencies to support the maintenance of all surface vehicles, aircraft, and spacecraft, as well as the operational needs of our business.  This VP provides strategic leadership for how the maintenance organization meets its functional and company objectives and is accountable for ensuring that flight operations are conducted safely and in accordance with company policies and procedures in adherence to Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) Regulations, Operations Specifications and the company.

 

  • Provide day-to-day strategic leadership and oversight for the maintenance and operations organization.
  • Set Maintenance and Operations functional policies.
  • Ensure zero preventable flight safety incidents.
  • Establish operations, personnel and equipment standards and requirements.
  • Promote and support Flight Safety, OHS and Quality Management Systems and in being compliant to any related regulations.
  • Full compliance to FAA and other airworthiness authorities.
  • Ensure entire department complies to all duties as described in the Company Maintenance Control Policy Manual.
  • Ensure continuous improvements to include identifying deficiencies, and develop preventive and corrective measures.
  • Identify new and emerging technology solutions that can improve operations and maintenance support and execution.
  • Implement corrective action plans.
  • Work closely with management and teammates to improve working relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Lead and develop staff and direct reports using company performance management processes.
  • Identify critical positions and establish succession plans for those roles in coordination with the team.
  • Participate in reviews, providing expert opinion and technical support.
  • Ensure required authorizations and permits are maintained and up to date.
  • Provide a safe and healthy workplace including the necessary equipment, systems, personal protective equipment, and tools which are continuously and properly maintained.
  • Provide supervision, training, direction, and instruction to safeguard our assets.
  • Protect the Occupational Health and Safety of teammates ensuring compliance with Safety requirements.
  • Establish, support, and consult with Occupational Health and Safety committees and Workplace Occupational Health and Safety representatives on all matters to improve workplace Occupational Health and Safety including regular safety inspections of the workplace.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary service.
  • Must be able to develop and execute on a strategic vision for the Maintenance and Operations department using overall company strategic business objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

What You Bring

 

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in maintenance, engineering
  • 20+ years in comparable field
  • Knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance, FAA rules, Safety
  • Familiarity of Airworthiness processes with the FAA, as well as Security Management and ITAR regulations
  • General knowledge of business operations and local legislation
  • Knowledge of US Government contractual process and associated regulations
  • Proven leadership experience overseeing multiple teams and teams of teams with a history of success
  • Demonstrated experience managing a portfolio of ongoing initiatives.
  • Strategic thinker with confidence and speed in execution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external partners.
  • The ability to effectively work with all levels of staff and management, with a demonstrated ability to drive consensus across different functional teams.
  • Strong talent management and team development skills.
  • Excellent planning and problem-solving skills, and the ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to perform and support our company values.
  • May be required to work beyond normal hours of work to meet operational requirements.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office Suite).
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

 

ITAR Requirements 
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
