Title:  Sr. Export Compliance Specialist

The Sr. Export Compliance Specialist supports the company’s export compliance program to ensure compliance with U.S. export control regulations and protect sensitive technology and information. This role partners cross-functionally to provide practical compliance guidance, support business operations, and help maintain a strong culture of compliance. This position requires working onsite four days per week.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day export compliance activities and business requests.
  • Review technical data, documents, presentations, and system access for export compliance.
  • Guide handling, sharing, and protecting controlled information.
  • Review visitor, contractor, candidate, travel, and facility access requests.
  • Support export licensing, authorizations, classifications, and documentation, including Strategic Trade Authorizations (STA) and Technical Assistance Agreements (TAA).
  • Partner with internal departments (Engineering, IT, Supply Chain, HR, Shipping, Security), and other teams to resolve compliance issues.
  • Conduct compliance reviews, audits, and restricted-party screening.
  • Maintain compliance records, metrics, and supporting documentation.
  • Support employee training and compliance awareness initiatives.
  • Review suppliers, customers, shipping activities, and international business transactions for export compliance risks.
  • Improve processes, update procedures, and support special projects, including future spaceport initiatives.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of export compliance experience within aerospace, defense, advanced technology, manufacturing, or another regulated industry.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. export control regulations, including:
    • International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
    • Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
    • Strategic Trade Authorization (STA)
    • Technical Assistance Agreements (TAA)

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting export licensing, classifications, technical data reviews, audits, and restricted-party screening.
  • Familiarity with engineering, document management, ERP, or compliance systems.
  • Experience supporting information security and controlled technical data requirements.

 

Work Environment

  • Office-based role with four days onsite each week.
  • Occasional work in manufacturing, engineering, test, and operational environments.
  • Limited travel between Virgin Galactic facilities.
  • Must be able to access controlled facilities and information in accordance with applicable U.S. export control requirements.

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $99,700.00–$152,075.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
